The Hotel Lodgings Network System was born as a model for the development of the mountain areas of Friuli Venezia Giulia at the end of the Eighties. This is not a new type of accommodation capacity destined to host tourists, but a real and true programme of territorial management for the rural areas undergoing a crisis.

The model of the Hotel Lodgings Network System has the aim of re-converting a social, political and economic system that is deeply transformed through the recovery of the deteriorated and abandoned real estate heritage by modifying its use and addressing it to tourism. This sector thus becomes a “starter” (motor) that is able to re-commence a virtuous circle to start up again political, social and economic activities that are satisfying for the life of human beings.

The innovation of such an approach derives from the involvement of a multiplicity of parties that, through one single co-ordinated management, promote a new form of accommodation that exploits all the potentials of the area involved with a limited environmental impact.

The Hotel Lodgings Network System is a hotel with bedrooms and facilities spread in different buildings. It is a uniform accommodation structure that is addressed to a demand showing interest in staying in a prestigious context, in having contact with the residents, in using normal hotel services.

This formula is particularly suitable for hamlets and villages characterized by historical centres of great historical and architectural importance and for the territories in which there is a significant presence of a prestigious heritage of buildings that have been abandoned, since it solves problems of tourist accommodation with an approach that is extremely sustainable, it exploits old buildings that are closed and unused and it avoids new construction work.
